Economic Sustainability
while we have had discussion groups about sustainability of many aspects of living such as energy, water, food, and waste recycling, it strikes me that there is an important aspect not yet discussed in the groups - economic sustainability.
I believe that in a village of 100 families it will sometimes be impractical to try and create everything needed to build and sustain the village. In order to acquire goods and services from the rest of the world we need to trade. To thrive the village must become economically sustainable. It must create a valuable surplus with which to trade.
In order for this economic activity to happen and for the way of life to stay as one of peace love and joy, all families residing in the villager would have to contribute in some way and feel a fairness with it. This has to be done in harmony with the planet, in keeping with the ways of the movement, and in a way that feels equitable to all.
Does anyone have any further thoughts on the relevance of economic sustainability?
